*Nutritionists recommend that the bread, cereals and potatoes group makes up the bulk of your diet - roughly 47 to 50 per cent. They also suggest that your dietary intake includes 18g of fibre every day. An easy way to do this is to make sure that a food from this group forms the basis of every meal - and opt for fibre-rich unrefined carbohydrates.

Fibre - Foods rich in fibre are a healthy choice. There are 2 forms of Fibre: Soluble: Helps reduce the amount of cholesterol in the blood and Insoluble: Helps keep bowels healthy.

Salt - Salt is made up of Sodium and Chloride. Salt is an essential ingredient in bread. It contributes to the taste and it controls fermentation, a key part of the bread making process. To calculate your Sodium content, simply divide the salt level by 2.5.

Fat - We need fat in our everyday diet as it helps the body absorb some vitamins, is a good source of energy and a source of essential fatty acids.

Protein - Protein is essential for growth and repair of the body and 15% of the calories we eat each day should be from protein.

Carbohydrate - Carbs are essential to provide energy and 1/3rd of our diet should be made up of carb rich foods such as bread.
