Roberts Bakery bread is not a high salt food

At Roberts Bakery we are committed to baking you only the freshest, highest quality loaves on a daily basis. As a family ourselves, we care that our products are nutritionally balanced and offer the very best for your family.

Salt is a vital ingredient in the bread-making process as it controls fermentation and contributes to dough texture and therefore finished product quality. We have been working hard to reduce the amount of salt in our products, and overcome the challenges this presents, whilst maintaining the great taste that Roberts bread has always delivered.

We are proud to have already achieved or bettered the 2010 voluntary salt targets, set by the Food Standards Agency, on most of our core lines. Our remaining products will reach these targets in the next few months. We continue to challenge baking technology in our commitment to always delivering the best loaf for you.

Bread is an important part of a healthy balanced diet and Government guidelines recommend that starchy foods such as bread should make up one third of consumers' daily calorie intake.

Comparing salt levels in different foods can be confusing, foods that contribute the most salt to our diets do not necessarily have the highest salt content, but can just be the ones we eat most often.

All of our products are clearly labelled with nutritional information including guideline daily amounts. The salt content of each loaf is shown, including 'per slice' information. This information is also available here on our website or if you have any further questions then please call us on 01606 41122.
